Kankara Sanshin Crafting & Playing

Unique program

The Kankara Sanshin is a type of sanshin made using an empty can, roughly the size of a paint can, as its body. This experience invites you to reflect on the history of the Okinawan people, who creatively used everyday items to pass down their songs and the art of playing the sanshin. You'll have the opportunity to craft your own instrument and play traditional folk music.
